A 44-year-old man was killed and another driver was injured in a head-on crash on Long Island on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
David Maiman of Middle Island was driving a 2020 Lexus north on Rocky Point Yaphank Road around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Suffolk County Police.
A Jeep traveling southbound then veered into the northbound lanes, striking Maiman's Lexus, police said in an update Monday, Oct. 5. Maiman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Albert R. VanRiper III, 71, of Montville, was pronounced dead at 12:32 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.
VanRiper was riding a motorcycle when it crashed around 8:16 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, on I-80 near mile marker 305 in Stroudsburg, Monroe County, the coroner said.

Pedestrian Killed In Pickup Truck Crash On Flanders Road: Police
A Long Island pedestrian was killed while crossing a street early Sunday, Aug. 30, police said.
Wayne Conforti Jr., 37, of Flanders, was walking in Flanders Road around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when a 2016 Toyota Tacoma struck him in the roadway, the Southampton Town Police Department said.
Cops responded to the scene and found Conforti lying in the road, near the intersection with Oak Avenue, suffering from serious physical injuries, authorities said. He was rushed to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
